Tran Thi Loan's final report on EFL 537 course

Two weeks working with Prof. Jeff on CALL have run quickly. It is time for us to say good bye with our teacher and my classmates but things comes and gets away during the course is very impressed and gave us unforgettable experience.

Although, computer and internet is a very necessary tool that I often use for my daily work but using  computer and technology in learning and teaching a second language as English is actually a big challenges for us because of having no chance for us to  approach to this technique in our study before.  During some first days of this course , I was a bit nervous and didn’t understand what I have to do or which tasks I have to complete for all the tasks as required by the teacher. I try to read carefully overview of the course as well as the guideline and introduction which posted by the teacher. I also come to read  some useful advice posted by some students from cohort 2. Then I gradually imagine and understand what I have to do and how will we complete my tasks and assignments as required. Firstly, I created my blog at http://www.vnu31.blogspot.com/ to post all of my reflection daily. This is very interesting because I can use as a window and place where we can express and share with my friend on my own thoughts, words, feelings and ideas. I can also come to write and post on our daily reflection about the course. This is very interesting and useful task that we have never done before during my study because this help us write on our daily thoughts about the lesson, difficulties as well as the challenges that we meet during the course. We also have chance to speak out on our feeling about the course what is most benefits of the CALL course and what is should be improve for the next course. In my own thought, I think that it is very useful to use a blog in our ESL setting.

I have much enjoyed two weeks with this course,  I my selves obtained and gained a lot of new knowledge about informatics technology, especially computer assisted language learning that I have never known before. By using this technique, I have know how to explore and search thousand of  very interesting, important  reference resources of information from many useful sites and social network such as twitter, ning and know how to keep all the sites that is my favorite on my book marks. Further more I also know how to manage desktop with http://www.efl537.com/vnu-fall2009/desktopmanagement. There are many useful computer technology that I have learnt from CALL but some of my best favorite techniques that I like and be useful for my teaching job such as: delicious, blog and imagine editing, video....In addition to, during this course, I also have equipped so many articles which relate to language teaching  and CALL sites such as: http://www.ict4lt.org/en/index.htm, http://www.ict4lt.org/en/index.htm.

Last but not least, during this course, I always have to try my best to complete all my tasks that gave by my teacher _prof. Jeff without his appearance at the class. It is not easy things for us to overcome all of those challenges. But finally, things was away, I proud of what I have done and gained during this course. I am sure that I and my classmate have gained much important experience from this course and it will bring many and many benefits for our teaching job afterward.

In conclusion, I would like to express my deepest thanks to Prof. Jeff who was accompanied with us during two weeks. He was so patient to listen and help us to solve many challenges and problems that raise during the course and gradually help us to know and use many useful tools by using CALL on teaching job. I hope that all of my class mates will apply all of those useful knowledge in  designing their lesson plan during in future.
