We are living in the 21st centery with many morden technology. So using computers is more and more important. We can do everything with it such as buying and selling things, read newspapers, listen to music, watch many interesting film, learning English etc on net. For me, this course help me both how to use computer and discover many useful things on internet. Especially,I can register my own wesite, blog ...myself. Thanks a lot my prof Jeff's help.

nowaday, High technology is very important in teching. especially, in teaching English. It the tool can't be lacked. I want to use high technology in my teaching to make my lesson more interesting and It can motivating my students in studying. it can let them the real situations.

I learn this course to better my teaching especially the four skills Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing BUT new ways in teaching thes skills to encourage students to learn acvitely, creatively and successfully. Learning to use computer is a must for every teacher in general and high school teachers in particularly. Reflective journal in Day 1 Reflective journal in Day 1 In the first day of the first week, we started to learn a new subject. All of us were eager to know what we learned. When we came to class . What a different way! This was the first time we didn't learn with our teacher in the class directly. He was far from us. We were worried, but our professor guided us diligently with our computer, then we could chat groups easily and he sent us a lot of useful website so that we knew what we had to do next. We felt my professor sounded tired with us but he tried to guide us get through. In the end, we could get through by typing messages; hearing the headphone; creating our own websites, profiles, edublogs…… we were very happy and all of us worked hard from 8.30 a.m to 12 a.m. In the end some of us finished their assignments. The first day had brought us many useful and important things.

In Vietnam, new technology is not used widely in teaching especially in teaching English. As you know, firstly I only searched information related to my lesson such as techniques in teaching vocabulary, grammar, skills, games, pronunciation, … Then I found that most of what I found were so useful though some of them are very difficult for me to follow because of our condition. After having sources to exploit, I design my lesson on the computer carefully and then I use projector to show what I have prepared to teach. I think the lesson is often more interesting as usual because it is lively when students cannot only read, write, listen, speak but they also see many new things on the screen. Sometimes I send my lesson to my friends via email and they contribute their ideas so that I can teach better. Thank to the Internet, sometimes I send my lesson to Rosemary and Gary Carkin or ask them for help if I have trouble in teaching, and they send me their comments even model lesson or plays. Those are so helpful because I am their student forever although we are not together, it is easy and cheap for us to keep contact by using the Internet. Without computer or Internet I cannot do like that. Whenener I have free time, I often have access to the Internet to relax myself. For example, I listen to new songs, read fun stories, or chat with my friends or my relatives. To enrich my knowledge about society or culture or something like that I often use the Internet to exploit the information. I also update news as soon as possible and I learn a lot from the articles about daily life such as the ways to eat or live healthy, the ways to teach children depending on their age, how to keep a happy family … All that help me to teach better because I myself widen knowledge in different aspects.
I started using computer one year ago so my ability of using computer is not as good as my classmates. My school doesn’t have the Internet that means I have to go to the city to access to the Internet once every month. Therefore, I am so worried that I think I will not able to learn this course. I have never learnt online before because it is not available in Vietnam. But I need to learn since I want to discover new things especially something about the Internet. In the first steps, difficulties and challenging are unavoidable so I have to try my best to get what I do not know. I hope after this course I can learn and teach English online. As you know, I have written journals, lessons, assignments and sent them to Southern New Hampshire when we learnt New Ways in Teaching Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening, Pronunciation taught by Rosemary and Gary Carkin. To me, computer and Internet are parts of my life nowadays because of their usefulness. As I said to you, I am as well as my classmates are very lucky to be your students because although today is the first time we have learnt online, I am eager to learn, it will help me a lot in my job and my learning in the future.
I have been teaching English in a secondary school in a remote area in Vietnam for 11 years. It is about 100 km from the city. My students are from 11 to 15 years old but they do not learn English when they are in primary school. Therefore, they start learning English from grade 6 to grade 9 in secondary school and they are from elementary to pre – intermediate level. My students have 3 periods a week and they have 35 weeks in each year including 10 written exams. I only teach pre – intermediate level. In Vietnam most teachers are teaching in traditional ways, they are afraid of changing and they do not want to apply new things that means they do not want to learn so I have to work hard to change myself as well as changing their thought in teaching and applying technology in schools.
I have a computer but it is not connected to the Internet because my school does not have the Internet, I am only able to have access to the Internet when I go to the city or come back my hometown near Hanoi. (the capital of Vietnam) My school received a computer and a projector from a charity program 2 years ago and most of the teachers in our school can only play games, they even cannot type the documents because our boss does not require us to do. I am myself the first and only person who can use computer in teaching in our district until now. In Vietnam National University, computers and the Internet are available so I can practice to improve my ability to learn better when I come there to learn.
As I mentioned, in Vietnam most teachers of English are trained and enabled theory knowledge without practical and so do I. Needless to say, most of them are teaching in traditional ways so 90 percent of Vietnamese students can learn vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading very well but they cannot listen or speak English well. Before I took part in this course I studied clearly the schedule of your school and I realized that all of the subjects are practical that I had never learnt before so I decided to register immediately and I am changing my teaching in positive ways as I have learnt. I hope after this course I can apply new ways in teaching English and I will learn the ways in using technology in teaching process. I have to learn more about using computers and know how to exploit their functions in teaching English as well as my life.
I know it is not easy but with your help and my effort, I am able to use computers and the Internet effectively as we wish. Hopefully each day I go to school to meet my classmates and you who help me day by day, I will be able to learn better and I will know how to use computers and the Internet more effectively.
